Understanding the Basics
What is Organic Cotton?
Organic cotton is natural cotton fibre grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. It is cultivated without synthetic fertilisers, harmful pesticides, or genetically modified organisms (GMO seeds).
Instead, organic cotton farming relies on natural crop rotations, biological pest control, and compost-based soil enrichment — practices approved under internationally recognised organic agriculture standards such as GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard).
Conventional cotton, by contrast, is one of the most chemically intensive crops in the world. It covers just 2.5% of the world’s cultivated land yet accounts for 10–16% of global pesticide use. That gap makes the choice between organic cotton fabric and conventional cotton fabric far more consequential than it might seem.
If unknowingly we can cause such a massive impact on our environment, imagine the difference we could make if we intend to.

Lower CO₂ emissions
Produces 978 kg of CO₂ per tonne of fibre — nearly half that of non-organic cotton.
2,700 L
Water per T-shirt
That's how much water conventional cotton farming uses just to make one T-shirt.
67M
Birds killed annually
Pesticide runoff unintentionally kills an estimated 67 million birds each year.

Lower Carbon Footprint
With nearly half the CO₂ output of conventional cotton, it meaningfully reduces climate impact.
Farmer & Worker Safety
No toxic pesticides means safer working conditions for farmers and artisans.
Premium Fabric Quality
Hand-picked rather than machine-harvested, resulting in softer, more durable fabric.
